We’re a family of four (plus our two cats!) based in San Lorenzo, California. Our oldest child is now enjoying college life, while our youngest still shares in our day-to-day adventures at home.
Life is busy! Chelsea works as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specializing in neurology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. She works days and nights and have become quite expert in all things stroke-related — every day is different!
Bobby works as a university administrator in institutuional diversity at Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU). Previously, Bobby worked there for many years as a tenured professor of cultural anthropology, sociology, and Latin American Studies. He loved his classroom experiences and is also very proud of his work as a faculty union leader in SEIU Local 1021.
Chelsea’s rural Colorado upbringing instilled a lifelong love for mountain living and outdoor activities. When she’s not caring for patients, she enjoys hiking, reading, running, and daily crossword puzzles. Bobby, a San Francisco native, enjoys conga drumming, salsa music, photography, and riding (and tinkering with) his Honda NC750x motorcycle.
Welcome to Evergreen Dorrington, where our passion for hosting and the outdoors comes to life! Here’s a bit about who we are, why we chose Dorrington, and why we love sharing our cabins with guests like you.
For us, Dorrington’s appeal lies in its mix of tranquility and outdoor adventure. We fell in love with the area for how quiet and chill it is—an antidote to the busyness of urban life. The easy 2.5 hour drive from home was a huge factor as well.
The town’s consistent winter snow transforms it into a beautiful wonderland perfect for skiing at nearby Bear Valley and other winter fun. In the summer, Dorrington’s temperature is a few degrees cooler than Arnold, which makes it an ideal place to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Our connection to Dorrington deepened when we bought Pinecone Cottage, right across the street from our original cabin. The decision wasn’t planned; we weren’t actively looking for another property. But when the opportunity presented itself, buying Pinecone felt right, even though it was a stretch for us. It was a chance to extend the experiences we loved to more guests seeking the peaceful charm of this mountain town.
In 2019, when we decided take the leap and open our cabin to guests, we came up with some core commitments that are really important to us and would guide our vacation rental journey. They are summed up below.
