Every season here has something special. Summer is perfect for hiking, swimming, and fishing. Fall brings breathtaking foliage—especially around Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Winter means skiing and sledding at Bear Valley, and spring is when the wildflowers bloom and hiking trails are at their best. No matter when you visit, there’s something to do.
The Arnold and Dorrington area typically sees snowfall from late November through March, with heavier snow accumulation in January and February. On average, you can expect several feet of snow each winter, making it perfect for sledding, snowshoeing, and skiing at nearby Bear Valley Ski Resort—just 30 minutes from the cabins. Both Evergreen Dorrington Chalet and Pinecone Cottage are winter-ready, with sleds and snowshoes available for guest use. Roads are plowed regularly, but we recommend bringing snow chains or snow tires to navigate the area safely during peak snowfall.
Short answer: it depends. 😉 Our rates are competetive with other quality cabins in the area. Nightly rates are roughly $250-$350, all fees included. Rates vary significantly by season and day of the week, and weekdays are generally more affordable. Peak seasons like summer and holidays tend to fill up fast, and prices are a bit higher. Yes! Both Evergreen Dorrington Chalet and Pinecone Cottage welcome up to two well-behaved, house-trained dogs. Booking directly with us saves you the $125 pet fee charged on other platforms.
