Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About Booking the Cabins

Are you a pet-friendly cabin?

Absolutely! In fact, we consider pets to be part of the family, so why would we ask you to leave them behind? You are welcome to bring along up to two well-behaved, house-trained dogs. We normally charge $125 per pet fee, but waive it for direct bookings!

Are these high end luxury homes where I need to be afraid of the kids touching things?

NO. These are a family friendly cabins where you can relax and make yourselves at home!

Are you an "Airbnb?"

No. Even though we list our cabin on Airbnb and VRBO, those companies do not provide any of the amenities or hospitality that guests value at Evergreen.
You might choose to book through those websites, but we consider you our guest, not Airbnb or VRBO’s guest.

Why should I BOOK DIRECT with you?

You are our guest, so why include the middleman? Save up to 15% by booking direct with us. Also, there are no pet fees and free EV charging when you book direct. Booking direct is a win-win for the owner and the guest! It's amazing how much guests pay those companies -- the cool kids book direct!

Do I need to pay all at once?

No. Upon booking, you will be charged 50% of the total booking.  You will be charged the remaining balance 14 days before your arrival.

What is your cancellation policy?

You will receive a full refund if cancellation occurs more than 14 days before arrival; No refunds within 14 days of arrival. We may offer you a partial refund if we are able to rebook your cancelled dates, as a courtesy.

How do I access the EV charger and what's the cost?

When you book direct, you get 60 kWh of charging for free! We charge a nominal fee for those who book through VRBO/Airbnb (detailed in those listing sites). Another reason to book direct!

What's the procedure for trash disposal during my stay?

Trash disposal is tricky in the mountains. We require that all trash be removed from the cabin after checkout to avoid a trash fee. There is a free dump nearby and a bear box at Pinecone Cottage. Detailed instructions are found in our trash policy.

Can I trust you?

Yes! 250+ 5-star reviews attest to the quality experience we provide. Also, you can call Chelsea or Bobby on the phone and talk to us!

About the Arnold & Dorrington Area

Where is Dorrington located?

Dorrington is a small mountain community in Calaveras County, just 10 minutes up the mountain from Arnold.  Dorrington is an easy 2.5 to 3-hour drive from the Bay Area.

Does it snow in Dorrington?

Yes, it definitely snows in Dorrington. For the most part, winter rain in Arnold means snow in Dorrington! We get 2-3 times as much snow as Arnold, but not nearly as much as Bear Valley, which is only about 40 minutes away.

When does it snow in Dorrington?

Of course, every year is different, but the snow season can start as early as November. Snowfall in Dorrington typically ramps up in January and February. Levels tend to peak in March and then taper off in April.
These are the tendencies, but you can never predict Mother Nature!

What are driving times from the cabins to local attractions?
